Double Q!!

This past weekend we had a big agility show in San Antonio.  It was a four day show but Sortie only competed three days.  The first two runs on Friday, a friend of mine ran Sortie in Standard and Jumpers and they qualified (ran the course with no mistakes) in Jumpers.  I ran her in a new class on Friday called FAST and she qualified there too!  Saturday was a different story with her popping out of the weaves in Standard and us crashing and burning big time in Jumpers.  On Sunday, however, my little girly qualified in both standard and jumpers which they call a "double Q"!  She took first place in her Standard run and came in fifth in her jumpers run out of 60 dogs!  Two of the dogs that beat her have been on the world team a couple of times so, not to brag, but my little Sortie Lou can hang with the big dogs!!
Here is her standard Q on Sunday!

Zoo trip: Round two

Well, we decided to give the San Antonio Zoo another go last week. If you read our previous post, Gatlin got scared of the monkeys and refused to enjoy the rest of the zoo. So, this time, we went with one of Gatlin's friend's Jeremiah and his mom Catrina and little sis Annalise. Catrina and I were friends in Georgia and thanks to the military being such a small world, the Clarke family has recently relocated to San Antonio! We were very excited to be reunited and have gotten the boys together a couple of times since they've moved here. So, we decided to try Gatlin at the zoo again since Jeremiah loves it so much. I figured that he would give Gatlin some courage and help him appreciate all the wonderful animals to be seen. Well, let's just say that Gatlin did slightly better but I think that for now, the zoo just isn't his cup of tea. He looked at a few more animals this time, loved the petting zoo (again), and had a great time in the toddler section. Unfortunately, he still hung back at most exhibits and had to sit in time out twice for being a bit of punk. Until that day, I didn't even know that time out could exist in the zoo but, oh yes it can! It was really cute, though, to watch the boys interract. Jeremiah just loves to lead Gatlin around by the hand and Gatlin even told him he loved him during the day! How sweet are they? At the end of the day, we did ride the zoo train again which Gatlin was so thrilled about, me not so much. All in all, it was a better day but an experience we won't be repeating for probably another year at least.
